Yuwahn Wupin takes approximately two hours to complete. As with any course, your personal level of engagement with the content will determine the depth of your learning.  After successfully completing the training, you will have developed a beginner's level of understanding of the Health of Australia's First Peoples. 

This course has been developed using the Commonwealth of Australia's (Department of Health) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Curriculum Framework and in consultation with many stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.

The content is interspersed with:

  • reflective questions
  • activities and
  • check-your-knowledge quizzes.

What are the course learning outcomes?

After successfully completing the training, you will have achieved what is referred to as a 'novice-level' understanding of how to provide safer healthcare.

What core topics are offered?

Yuwahn Wupin is made up of five modules. 
These reflect the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Curriculum Framework's five interconnected cultural capabilities in its Graduate Cultural Capability Model:

  1. Respect
  2. Communication
  3. Safety & Quality
  4. Reflection
  5. Advocacy

The model is based on two important principles:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients are at the centre of health delivery; and  
  • The ultimate delivery goal is to enable better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. 
Who is this course suited to?

This course is designed for people working in health or human services fields however people from other industries may also benefit from the training.

What are the course credentials?

Earn a certificate of completion by completing all elements of this course.
