Griffith University’s Academic Bootcamps are highly effective, intensive four-day courses run in the September school holidays, designed to help you prepare for your Physics external exams.

This course is to help you prepare by becoming familiar with what to expect on the upcoming external exams, and to practice, practice, practice.

Over the four days, you’ll revise and consolidate your understanding of the course content for Unit 3 and 4. Each session will be dedicated to one of these topics and you will complete a series of questions that have been seen on past papers and be shown how to approach these questions.

The course is designed as an interactive by Teams-based workshops and is delivered by highly experienced senior Physics teachers.

What core topics are offered?

Through participation in the Physics bootcamp you will revise and consolidate:

  • Unit 3: Gravity and electromagnetism
    • Topic 1 - Gravity and motion; Vectors; Projectile motion; Inclined planes; Circular motion; Gravitational force and fields; Orbits
    • Topic 2 - Electromagnetism; Electrostatics; Magnetic field; Electromagnetic induction; Electromagnetic radiation
  • Unit 4: Revolutions in modern physics
    • Topic 1 - Special relativity
    • Topic 2 - Quantum Theory; Young's double-slit experiment; Black-body radiation; Photoelectric effect; Bohr model and Line spectra
    • Topic 3 - The Standard Model - particle interactions
  • Practice External Exam Questions

This course is particularly suitable for Queensland Year 12 students studying Physics and/or Students preparing for external examinations.

Who are the course facilitators?

Hanna Naghavi

Hanna is a teacher specialising in senior physics, specialist mathematics and mathematical methods, with over 7 years of experience. Holding a Bachelor's degree in electrical telecommunication engineering and a Masters degree in information technology from QUT, Hanna's educational background is complimented by 11 years of industry experience as an engineer in the broadcast sector. 

Hannah Shaw

Hanna is an experienced high school physics teacher. With a background in chemical engineering, Hanna enjoys preparing students for external exams while also developing their capabilities for entering university and the workforce.
