Griffith University’s Academic Bootcamps are highly effective, intensive four-day courses run in the September school holidays, designed to help you prepare for your Biology external exams.

Over the four days, you’ll revise and consolidate your understanding of the course content for Unit 3 and 4. Each session will be dedicated to one of these topics and you will complete a series of questions that have been seen on past papers and be shown how to approach these questions.

This course is designed as an interactive by Teams-based workshops and is delivered by highly experienced senior Biology teachers.

The Online Academic Bootcamps are designed to assist students to:

Through participation in the Biology bootcamp you will revise and consolidate:

  • Unit 3: Biodiversity and the interconnectedness of life
    • Topic 1 - Describing biodiversity
    • Topic 2 - Ecosystem dynamics
  • Unit 4: Heredity and continuity of life
    • Topic 1 - DNA, genes and the continuity of life
    • Topic 2 - Continuity of life on Earth
  • Practice External Exam Questions

This course is particularly suitable for Queensland Year 12 students studying Senior Biology and/or Students preparing for external examinations.

Each day will be structured as follows:

  • 9am - 9:15am Diagnostic Quiz
  • 9:15 - 11am Session 1
  • 11 - 11:20am Break
  • 11:20 - 1pm Session 2
  • 1 - 1:30pm Lunch
  • 1:30 - 2:45pm Session 3

Who are the course facilitators?

Shannon Rodgers

Shannon is a leading Biology teacher, teaching both year 11 and 12 Biology as a Head of Department for Education Qld. Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in microbiology and biotechnology (QUT), Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (UQ) and a Masters of Education (QUT). She is passionate about all areas of Biology and has taught senior Biology for 8 years. Shannon has been the lead teacher of the Griffith Biology bootcamps since the initial roll out in 2019 and has upheld a consistently high standard of program delivery and teaching. 

Fynn Preuss

Fynn is a senior Biology teacher, teaching both Year 11 and 12. He holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Ecology and biodiversity (QUT) and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (QUT). Fynn is passionate about all areas of Biology and has taught senior Biology for 8 years. Fynn joined the Griffith Biology bootcamps as a tutor last year and thoroughly enjoyed working with other tutors and students.
