Full course description
About this course
Course Snapshot
Across three modules, you’ll explore how leadership assumptions, behaviours and communication practices shape the way people work, make decisions and respond under pressure. You’ll examine how leadership thinking has evolved and use contemporary leadership perspectives to understand why different approaches are effective in different situations.
You’ll then consider leadership in action, including how leaders influence motivation, judgement, coordination, information sharing and team performance. Particular attention is given to the everyday communication moments that shape trust, clarify expectations and help teams work effectively when information is incomplete or conditions are changing.
The course also examines psychological and psychosocial safety as core leadership responsibilities. You’ll explore how leadership behaviours influence voice, escalation, wellbeing and Just Culture, and identify practical adjustments you can make to improve role clarity, encourage constructive participation and support wellbeing within your own workplace.
The micro-credential consists of three (3) modules designed to build foundational leadership capability for complex and high-reliability environments:
Foundations of Leadership and Communication: explores how leadership thinking has evolved and how contemporary approaches emphasise values, relationships, inclusion and shared responsibility. You’ll also consider how everyday communication shapes trust, credibility and psychological safety.
Leadership Behaviour, Performance and Influence: examines how leadership behaviours affect motivation, decision-making, coordination and performance. You’ll explore how leaders adapt their approach, build commitment and communicate effectively under pressure.
Leadership for Psychosocial Safety: explores how leadership shapes trust, voice, wellbeing and people’s willingness to speak up. You’ll examine psychological and psychosocial safety, role clarity, escalation, listening and Just Culture.
