About this course

A unique online experiential leadership development program for Emergency Physicians

Emergency physicians are often unprepared for leadership roles, hindered by challenging workplace cultures that affect their ability to lead effectively. Leadership in emergency medicine requires navigating complex dynamics, underscoring the importance of trust, psychological safety, and awareness of the power and politics within hospital settings.

Moreover, emergency Departments are challenging environments for leader identity development, presenting both threats and opportunities. Emergency physicians face complex challenges due to the multifaceted nature of their roles, highlighting the need for leadership development programs that reflect the complexity and hybridity of emergency medicine.

Traditionally only selected physicians have received management training, either through executive or joint degree programs. Presently, too few physicians receive these opportunities. We contend that it is vital that all physicians learn leadership skills.
